Cameo, Vimeo’s Video Editing Platform, Removes Social Networking Functionality
Cameo, the video editing platform which was acquired by Vimeo in 2014, today introduced a complete rebuild of its app.
The new update contains familiar features as easy importing, editing, and HD video support, the redesign removes Cameo’s social networking features. While previously, users can easily follow other film makers inside the app and view their posts in an Instagram style feed.
Vimeo says that the removal of Cameo social network is a major focus on integrating Cameo fully into Vimeo. In exchange for removing the social networking component, Vimeo will currently be featuring videos made on Cameo in a new curated ‘’Best of Cameo’’ channel, which is similar to Vimeo’s famous ‘’Staff Picks’’ channel.
The new app introduces new features which was not present in the previous version. One notable new feature is the smart ability to import and utilize clips longer than six seconds, which will permit creators to use the platform for more in-depth films.
This update offer users with instrumental-only soundtracks to use in their videos. These songs will be of independent artists and indie labels, and is easily available for free use in all videos created using Cameo.
Cameo’s latest update is available now, and can be downloaded instantly from the IOS App Store.
