Camellia Expo Deadline-Your Chance To Be a Sponsor or Purchase and Ad
On February 4th, 2017 there will be a groundbreaking event in the world of Camellias and Gardening. The inaugural Charleston Camellia Expo! To begin, this expo is not aimed at the already established camellia grower, though they are more than welcome to attend. No, this is for the novice, not even sure what a camellia really is, type of grower. The people that come to the annual flower shows and "ooh" and "aah" over the beautiful blooms, then state that they could never grow something so pretty. We want to fix that!
The world of horticulture and gardening is changing, and not for the good. It is losing out to electronic and digital forms of entertainment. Very few younger Americans like to get out and get dirty, put in sweat equity in their yard, or even know how to grow plants. There are some, please don’t get me wrong, just not many. So with this being said, society and garden club members are getting older, and there is little new blood coming in to replace the older generation. With that older generation leaving, it is also taking with it years and years of knowledge and experience! One of the goals of this expo is to help preserve all of that and help guide some of the younger generation to accept the responsibility of the future of horticulture.
You can be a part of this exciting venture, either by purchasing an ad in the program or being a sponsor of the event! There is not much time left and I really wanted to get the word out one last time, so that nobody can come back later and say, he or she wishes they had an opportunity to participate.
We will start with the big one first, Sponsorship. It is primarily being put on by The Citrus Guy Horticultural Consulting Group and the Coastal Carolina Camellia Society, but there are plenty of opportunities for your company or group. We have a website devoted to the expo and the all of the information can be found there. For Sponsorship possibilities, go to this page: SPONSORSHIP
The printed booklet will be chock full of great information, with feature articles on the event site, the organizers, and some famous Camellia personalities, such as Coach Vincent Dooley, who was the head football coach, athletic director at the University of Georgia and is a very good Camellia grower, and The Lone Ranger, Clayton Moore, who was also a big Camellia grower in his day.
