Cambodia’s Trade Performance in 2024: A Quick Overview

Cambodia’s international trade in 2024 (January - August) saw robust growth, reaching a total trade volume of USD 36.48 billion, reflecting a 16.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Exports grew by 16.7%, totaling USD 17.58 billion, while imports climbed to USD 18.9 billion, marking a 16.2% YoY increase.

Key Trading Partners & Products:

  • Cambodia’s top trading partners include China, the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan. Notably, trade with China surged by 24.5% to USD 10.07 billion.
  • Major export destinations include the United States, Vietnam, China, and Europe, with exports to Europe growing by 16.27% to USD 2.9 billion.
  • The country’s key export products are garments, footwear, and textiles (GFT), machinery, electrical equipment, and agricultural products like rubber. On the import side, mineral fuels, knitted fabrics, and electrical machinery dominate.

RCEP and ASEAN Trade:

  • Cambodia’s trade with Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries reached USD 22.92 billion, up 17.2%, representing 62% of its total trade. Exports to RCEP countries were USD 6.05 billion, while imports from them hit USD 16.87 billion.
  • Trade with ASEAN nations specifically totaled USD 10.49 billion, an 11.8% increase, accounting for 28.4% of Cambodia’s total trade. Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore rank as the top ASEAN trading partners.

This strong trade performance highlights Cambodia's growing integration into global and regional markets, driven by rising trade with RCEP and ASEAN partners.
