Calm in the Storm. . . .
“And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"” Matthew? ?8:23-27? ?ESV??
Jesus loves you all of the time, even at your worst. I know this because he was beside me at my worst, most depraved and lost. Faith in him means that the storms in your life will be calmed, that when troubles do arise you will be able to face them knowing that the plan of God is greater than your own, and that Christ is always beside you.
Yes, I said “will” because there will still be troubles. But notice how Jesus calms the storm with just a word? He calms the storms in our lives with His Word! I love knowing that whatever is going on; whatever fear arises; whatever pain I feel; whatever doubts I have, I am still wrapped in his love and he will speak calm over all of my “whatever” times.
If you do not know Christ as your Savior, I urge you to accept the free gift of salvation through the cross. You can admit to him yourself that you are a sinner and need him, letting the Holy Spirit into your heart. Or, you can contact me and we can walk through it. It is simple, not often easy, but simple.
