Calm Center: Your Compass to Being Your Best Self

Calm Center: Your Compass to Being Your Best Self

Flow State originated in the 1970's from Positive Psychology. It is the study of the psychological state that can be accessed when your mind is clear, ?time seems to melt away, you are hyper focused on the task at hand and as a result you are highly productive.

?

However, the concept of Flow goes back centuries.

?

Around the year 500 to 400 BCE Lao Tzu first introduced the concept of Taoism in what is now China. Tao and Taoism refers to the Oneness of all life which creates a current of Flow that we can choose to tune into.

?

“Tao flows endlessly like water.

It is there at the beginning and the end.

It is wind rising,

Clouds condensing,

Thunder rumbling

And rain falling.

It is everything at once.”

-Lao Tzu

?

I love combining the studies of modern-day Psychology, Neuroscience and Mindfulness with the ancient philosophies of Taoism, Buddhism, Meditation, and the Three Principles.

?

Because we all have a calm center. It is who we truly are as pure consciousness, which is the space meditators access when they meditate.

?

From that calm center we also have a brain. Learning from Psychology and Neuroscience we can start to understand how the brain works and why we are prone to certain behaviours, such as negative thinking, rumination, and racing thoughts.

?

Then we can start to understand the intersection of our calm center and an active brain to make conscious choices of who we want to be and how we want to experience our life. We can choose to:

?

-Live from a space of calm or tension

-Be present and live more fully in the moment

-React with calm composure to triggering situations

-Move through negative thinking and emotions with ease

-Bring our best self to our relationships at work and at home

-Enjoy life fully now even when circumstances aren’t perfect

?

And perhaps most importantly...

?

We can find our calm center, which we can always return to like a compass whenever we need a reset or want to return to being our best self.

?

Living in harmony with the Flow of life is synonymous with living from your calm center.

?

It is your inner state of being present, peaceful, and aligned with the unfolding of life.

?

And it puts the power in your hands to be your best self, without depending on other people, work, politics, the economy, or anything else to determine how you feel and experience your life on a day-to-day basis.

?
