The Calm Before the Storm!
Millions of people all over the world are busy enjoying themselves and making the best of life for themselves and their families. Everything seems to be going well, many are living in the lap of luxury and convenience. They simply order online, and their food or groceries are delivered to their homes before they can get back from work. This is the level of technology that we now have offered to us. Yet in all these things that we enjoy and take pleasure in, many have completely forgotten about the source of their salvation. Many have lost their relationships with God and are comfortably living in a backslidden state. My warning to these people is that there is a great storm brewing. When it hits, many are going to go into a state of panic and confusion simply because they took God for granted!
Matthew 8:23-24 “Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat.”
When we hear of great storms heading our way many times we panic, People make hasty decisions that they regret later. We are all going to face this raging storm. The only difference is that those who have Jesus in their lives have a life jacket to save them from impending doom. Those without Jesus will have to face the storm on their own. Their stamina will soon run out. Their strength will soon fade. Their chances of survival will lessen by the minute. Only then will people begin to realize how important the Savior of our souls is. We read about five foolish virgins in the Bible. While they kept up appearances so that others could see who they were, they fell short of what God required of them. Don’t be one who pleases people, rather choose to please God!
Many have forsaken God in their actions. They refuse to come to worship the Lord. They would rather make any excuse not to worship Him. The sad reality is going to hit them in the face when they realize that nothing was more important in this life than worshipping the Lord. Everything else revolves around our worship of the Lord. Loving the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our minds and souls is all that truly matters. Yet rebellious hearts and minds have chosen to serve themselves instead. They have no time for the Creator of their lives, as they are too preoccupied with the things of this world. Jesus gives us all a clear warning when He said: “Remember Lot’s Wife!”
Jesus also tells us that we are the salt of the earth. But when the salt has lost its savor, it is good for nothing but to be cast down on the ground and trampled underfoot. Lot’s wife disobeyed God’s command and she looked back to where her treasure lay. Instead of being the salt of the earth, she was turned into a pillar of salt. Even in her punishment of becoming a statue, she did not escape from the fire of hell. Tell those who are in rebellion to God and His instructions that they still have time to repent. They still have time to make right. God is longsuffering and patient with us. He is waiting to rescue us from the storm that is about to come. No one will survive that storm without Jesus in their lives! Consider that fact and make a wise decision today!
