The calm after the storm
We're in!
After four weeks of mayhem (eternal thanks to the guys at Space & Solutions for delivering precisely what they promised) Fenchurch Law has a new home. We thought we were close to the heart of the insurance market before, but it now feels like we can reach out and touch Lloyd's from our windows here on the 3rd floor of 40 Lime Street.
When we set out planning the new space, we wanted to create an environment that would maximise both productivity and creativity. So, originally sparked by a fascinating series of articles on workspace design in the October 2014 edition of the Harvard Business Review, we decided against cramming every square inch with desks, and created three distinct work areas instead, with an emphasis on flexibility.
We have a fairly traditionally-structured desk area for tasks requiring a high degree of focus: somewhere that individuals can get into the zone. We then have a library area with an incredible 4m long table for collaborative working and research. Our third space is dedicated to innovation and creative team-working: sofas and movable seating all centred around the biggest whiteboard we could find.
It all feels very new and strange at the moment, but initial signs are that severing the chain between each of us and our desks is going to improve every aspect of our work (and our working lives).
We're looking forward to welcoming as many policyholders, brokers, and other friends from the market, as possible over the next few months.

Quite blue I'd say, not a hint of red but the Pink really works.
