Calls for cross-government department housing delivery unit

The Radix Big Tent Housing Commission has called for a new housing delivery unit, alongside an increased affordable homes program.

The unit would aim to engage the likes of the Bank of England, financial providers and regulatory bodies.

The report called Beyond the Permacrisis sets out 15 recommendations to build 1,000 homes a day that span from a cross-party accord and streamlining of funding processes.

UK borrowing rises ahead of Budget

In official figures, borrowing has risen by ￡16.6bn further raising concerns over the measures coming in the next budget.

This increase comes after interest rates have increased and public sector pay rises gone ahead.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is to deliver the budget on the 30th of October and this needs to address a ￡44 billion budgetary deficit.

However good news has come with the IMF expecting a 1.1% increase in economic growth this year, an increase from the 0.7% it predicted last quarter.
