Calling Busy Tech B2B & B2C Entrepreneurs: 3 Powerful Joint Brand Building Strategies to Boost Your Business

Wow, it's already Q2 of 2023!

My Q1 was a rollercoaster of adventure - from the excitement of attempting a Guinness World Record to restructuring my business to dealing with situational challenges to becoming a Hollywood executive producer of American Underdog.

To tell you the truth, it was not easy to keep yourself happy and inspired all the time.

To get myself in a strong mental mindset to lead everyday, I watched lots of movies and TED talks to keep me inspired.

Here are my top ones: Babylon (creative genius), AIR (Licensing contract explained well), Sir (power of education), and more..

I also spent a lot of time understanding market conditions and what companies can do when access to funding is not available, especially for tech companies that rely on angel, VC, and private equity funding. Additionally, the impact of the lack of corporate MDF and coop funding was significant.

Now imagine if you spent time with Richard Branson to ask him how to navigate the current terrain as an entrepreneur. I believe he would share his insights on brand building just like below. But how can I be that confident? I read this article on inspiring quotes from top brand owners that says...

Branding is the first step towards business survival. The success of the business relies on the way the company brands itself.

In the last two months of running the WICxTOP100 B2B Founder Campaign with 50+ women tech founders in the current climate, the learnings have been fascinating.

Three Reflections:

  1. Joint brand building is more valuable and powerful when you don't have a lot of marketing dollars. Leverage is the word that comes to mind. The key to successful execution is having everyone participate in the brand building campaign. We crossed over 20K impressions on LinkedIn and the work has just begin.
  2. Invite your community and customers to champion for you. Providing access to opportunities for B2B founders to invite their audience to events, demos, and providing them resources to create access to achieve great success. After all, they are humans with the same desires and needs as you. CONNECTION & BELONGING!!
  3. Do it every week - We all did one small thing every week. As simple as inviting people to community gatherings, amplifying each other, sharing activities and/or educating their audience. Everyone became a contributor of this campaign.

After reviewing many companies' brand-building activities, there is a simple framework you can use every week to engage in joint brand building activities:

Primary Goal : Gain Exposure (Reach New Audiences, Potential Customers)

Three (3) powerful Joint Brand Building Strategies That Works:

  1. Join a community and leverage their go-to-market activities, just like how B2B Tech Women Founders are doing it. From events to digital media campaigns, they have a lot of exposure.
  2. Become your own media by using the content framework [Inspire | Connect | Invite | Educate | Create] to create brand-focused content.
  3. Stop 'selling' and be helpful by developing education-based marketing content to help your customers gain knowledge and partner with you to solve challenges

Women-owned companies are often underrepresented in business communities. Being a part of a community like Women in Cloud can provide visibility, representation, meaningful human connections which can be important for building a strong brand and reputation. This branding positively builds trust with potential customers, partners, and investors. I agree that Joint brand building can be a powerful strategy, particularly when you are working with limited marketing budgets. It also provide emotional support and encouragement, which can be particularly important for women-owned companies that may face unique challenges and barriers.
