Calling all leaders with a fiery heart

Calling all leaders with a fiery heart

When we encounter new, young, potential leaders, we often notice more than anything their spark. Something about them which sets them apart from the crowd. It might express itself in their ideas, their confidence, their courage or maybe even very quietly or more loudly in their energy, which we might perceive as a sort of ‘je ne sais quoi’.

Fieriness of heart could be described as radiance, a sense of a light that emanates from the person – a brighter light than is typically encountered. This radiance is present in each one of us it just sometimes gets buried or is waiting for the right circumstances to reveal itself more obviously for others to see. ?????

The light or radiance is a quality that comes from deep within us – we might even call it our true life-force. It’s a heart quality in that it’s transmitted through the heart centre like a beacon. It can take very specific aspects of qualities such as passion, joy, drive, vision and many others but we know it most profoundly because of its connection to love.

A love of Life, not just one’s own life but of all living things – of the very essence of Life. The right for everyone to have a good life, a ‘beautiful’ life, the sense of wanting to make the world a better place. This quality of love is self-forgetful, not in the sense that we sacrifice ourselves but in the sense that we know we are a channel by which others may also enjoy a wonderful experience of living on this earth. And, at the risk of this all sounding too fairy-tale like for our very challenging world, we know that cynicism and negativity have very little impact in creating change, so why wouldn’t we commit ourselves to approaching life with a view to making it better. That’s the core of leadership surely.

So, if we are looking for new leaders in our organisations and in our groups or even in our families, let’s look for that spark of radiance and fan the flames so that our world becomes a place where fiery-hearted leadership is the norm. Then we truly will create a better world for all.
