Calling all Creatives, Copywriters, and Poets!

Tomorrow marks 111 days in captivity for the hostages—104 men, women, children and infants still thought to be alive.

?

Tragically, it’s becoming clear that the goal of bringing them home is incompatible with the goal of eradicating Hamas.

?

Nevertheless, people of goodwill EVERYWHERE rightfully insist that the effort to liberate the hostages persist and ramp up.

?

How might we all help, and signal that people of goodwill EVERYWHERE do not tolerate now—nor will we ever tolerate—the despicable targeting of civilians in campaigns of violence.

?

While visual protests abound—flyer postings, billboards, murals, art exhibits, and online graphics—the world of MUSIC is conspicuously (and ironically) AWOL.

?

And while it’s difficult to dispute the power of visual art, it’s impossible to dispute the power of music, which enters the brain and body and resides there 24/7/365… for life.

?

In 1985, 42 of the world’s greatest musical artists gathered to produce a number called “We Are the World.”? It was, arguably, the greatest “call to musical action” in our lifetime.

?

One of the “We Are the World” artists was Bob Dylan, both the only song writer in history to win the Nobel Prize in Poetry and the composer of the social justice blockbuster, “Hurricane.”

?

Powerful music typically begins with powerful words.? And that’s why I’m calling all creatives, copywriters, and poets.

?

The global music industry is deafeningly silent right now.? For whatever reasons, they’re unable to step up and translate the Zeitgeist…

?

… leaving it to us—the creative-types and poets—to get busy.

?

A great song is typically built around a powerful phrase, line or refrain.? We need to come up with a few.? (Crowd sourcing lyrics, buddy?? Crazier things have been done, my friend!)

?

Please consider using your platform to tickle the grassroots song-writing giant to life.? Let’s save lives now, and signal that people of goodwill EVERYWHERE will never again tolerate terrorism.

?
