Called to Serve Coaches & Athletes

The wooden cross & the medal with an engraved torch of flaming fire in my palm sums up my purpose and mission at the #icc2020dubai ; To lead every coach and athlete/player into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. This has been a calling I have struggled with for over a decade now since I got into full time sports right after college , but finally I have embraced it fully. I am a Sports Minister called to engage, equip, and empower coaches in Africa starting with Ghana to better serve their athletes/players. Sports reveals and refines character, nevertheless without a tried and tested medium of refining, the process can loose its effect and only have a temporal impact. But this process of revealing and refining character starts with the Coach . “ A coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in an entire lifetime” said by Billy Graham. That’s why we need more transformational coaches and less transactional coaches. After 10 years of being a sports and character coach I can confidently say that the most authentic and lasting character development tool in sports is the Word of God. The best guide to a fulfilling sports career either as a coach, athlete/player, or sports administrator is the Word of God. The sports world is violent,cruel, and brutal especially at the elite level irrespective of age or gender. Without Integrity, love, compassion, serving, teamwork, and excellence there will be more victims than victors coming out of sports. Why do I say that ? Because millions of people define themselves by what they do rather than by who they are. Those who normally fall prey are those involved in sports especially coaches and athletes/players.

My mission is to help the sports coaches, and sports administrators to redefine who they are as a person and equip them to better refine their athletes/players using sports as a vehicle through the love of Jesus Christ. Every coach, athlete/player wants glory and will do anything to earn and live out that glory without much thought about how long it will last. It’s time to do things a little differently and in a more lasting and transformational way . I am more than humbled to be called by God to be a part of this new approach.
