CALL FOR PAPERS: V. INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATION,PAMUKKALE TURKEY

We are very pleased to announce the V. International Social Studies Education Symposium which will be held in collaboration with Pamukkale University and Association of Social Studies Educators. It will be hosted by Pamukkale University in April 28-30, 2016. Its main theme as avant-garde and ecole (PIONEERS and MAIN TRENDS) was determined.

Social Studies Education continues to progress as a new discipline by itself in the academic area in recent decades. Also, Social Studies Education owing to the fact that it is interdisciplinary always catches another areas’ attention. However unfortunately, Pioneers and ecoles of social studies education have not been sufficiently researched until today. Who has been initiated the discipline first? Which factors have made it necessary for this discipline? Which understandings and approaches have come to the forefront? Is there anyone who was included later and inspired to this area? Was there anyone who didn’t put himself in any area but worked in several areas? Probably proceedings will include essays and discussions. We think that proceedings will both help to answer the questions above and to give a way to make a judgement in its own discipline.

Social Studies Education naturally cannot remain away from the current political and social issues. Furthermore, it is an area which makes these research topics. In this regard, it includes the following sub-themes too: Current Events, Social Media and Democracy; Population in the context of Social Studies, Brain Circulation, Diversity and Migration; Globalization and Values Education; the European Union and Social studies in Turkish Education System, Social Studies in Postgraduate, Social Studies and Special Education; Social Studies and Children.

We believe that important information and idea sharing about social studies area will take place with the participation of researchers coming from abroad. Our Symposium will reach its goal with you who are valued participants. We thank you for your contributions and offer our respects already now.
