The second edition of the World Intelligence Conference (WIC 2018) took place at the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Hilton Hotel and the Meijiang Conference & Exhibition Centre in Tianjin, China on 16-18 May 2018. This major drone event consisted of a conference, thematic forums, a UAS competition, and an exhibition. WIC 2018 was organized by Bei Hang Investment Co. Ltd., in close coordination with the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee, as well as its Commercial Bureau and Science & Technology Bureau, and the China Association for Science and Technology, Beihang University and China (Tianjin) UAV Industry Alliance. The event was attended by 4000 representatives of industry (drone manufacturers & operators) and research organisations.
UVS International’s President had been invited to give the only non-Chinese keynote at the WIC 2018 – UAS Industry Development Forum; his presentation focused on the necessity for the Chinese drone community to be more engaged in the ongoing international efforts relative to the harmonization of drone-related rules, regulations and standards (including active participation in JARUS). He also met with local government authorities to discuss the possibilities of jointly building out next year’s event to include more international speakers.
