"CALL DON FIRST"

I am actually holding Lucille the original baseball bat from the Walking Dead series. This is the actual bat character Negan played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan used in the series... EXCITING RIGHT???

Earlier 2022 I received a call from one of my top clients whom i've been working with for over four years. This particular person moved on to another position with Goldin Auctions. However, prior to, we have been providing global supply chain solutions for a very high profile apparel company. I will reveal who the company is in a future post. First thing my client states "Don I always call you first, but before I proceed with this particular convo I need you to keep this very very VERY top secret, and you have to sign an NDA". My reply was "sure, no problem...". The next day after the NDA was signed my client asked two questions.

First question, "have you ever watched The Walking Dead series? The second, we need a secure warehouse to store all of the high value props and wardrobe and we need you to not only pack everything, we need you to ship to your secured facility and it needs to be done asap, can you handle?" in true Don Holland fashion " yep no sweat". As always my first call is Chris Cser. As I stated in my last article we are the dynamic dual when it comes to making things happen globally. The Detroit ICAT operations team is whole heartedly the best in getting things done. "The One Call, Right Solution, Done" slogan is real and not just advertising jargon. The operations team is a merry band of dedicated individuals who actually care about freight. A packing crew was secured on site in less than 3 days and trucks rolled in to our facility within a weeks time. I personally travelled to Texas to ensure the process was executed flawlessly.

Another successful move right? yes however, for months we had to work very hard to keep everything under wraps. My team was sworn to secrecy, no leaks, no communication to the outside world and most of all NO PICTURES on social media until authorized by Goldin Auctions and the film studio.

Late August I received another call stating more items were on the way and the Goldin Auction crew will be onsite to categorize the items to be ready for auction. I very confidently stated "we will be ready". I didn't just state a corny cliche we really stay ready as our warehouse is secure and clean. Upon the Goldin Auctions team arrival, the team continuously complimented on how well organized and clean our warehouse is. A section of our warehouse became the backdrop for the categorizing of The Walking Dead series props and wardrobe.

Being a fan of the show the two most important items for me were "Lucille" and Rick's Sheriff Deputy hat. There were countless props and costumes that I saw as the crew started unboxing the crates and wardrobe boxes. Another treat we had in our building was the car used in the Fear of the Walking Dead. Again, countless iconic props and costumes we got to see in person from such a historic series. I can say for the team it is an honor to work with Goldin Auctions.

This project by far was the most unique to date for me. I've been in the logistics industry for upwards of 27 years. I've moved freight for small and large organizations globally hassle free in my career. This project was an absolute treat.

The moral to the story is no matter the size of the project, no matter what you are shipping from point A to B, I will always steer you in the right direction. Always, always, always remember to "CALL DON FIRST".
