California Property Taxes: Second Installments Due By April 10, 2024

You should have received your California 2023-2024 Property Tax Bills in the Fall of 2023.?The first installment was due December 11, 2023*, and the second installment is now around the corner, due by April 10, 2024.?
Your bill likely says something confusing like, “The first installment will be due November 1, 2023 and will be delinquent if paid after December 10, 2023; The second installment will be due February 1, 2024 and will be delinquent if paid after April 10, 2024”.
Broken down, this means you have until the last date to make those payments, i.e. December 11, 2023 and April 10, 2024, respectively.
If mailing, payments must be received or postmarked by the last payment date to avoid late penalties.
Prefer to pay online? Most counties also accept electronic payments up until 11:59 p.m. by the last payment date, but check with your county about their electronic requirements (and obviously don’t wait until 11:59 p.m.). Some counties charge extra to use a credit card, but typically have no or low fees for an electronic-check type payment. Check with your county.
OC residents, you can even sign up for text or email reminders through the county at octreasurer.com/securedreminders.

*Payments were technically due by December 10, 2023, but since that is a Sunday, it rolls to the next business day.
