Job Description and Duties: Attorney - Community Care Licensing Enforcement Branch

Position Overview:

  • Location: Monterey Park, CA
  • Type: Permanent full-time Attorney position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Representation: Appear before administrative tribunals for clients in community care facilities (foster homes, group homes, etc.).
  • Case Prosecution: Enforce statutes and regulations, prosecuting cases affecting the health and safety of vulnerable populations.
  • Litigation Development: Create evidence, strategies, and tactics for license revocations, denials, and exclusion actions.
  • Collaboration: Work with clients, witnesses, medical staff, law enforcement, and experts to handle complex cases, including child maltreatment and elder abuse.
  • Settlement Negotiation: Facilitate settlements and negotiate stipulations when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Active membership in The California State Bar required.
  • Eligible candidates include those taking the bar exam or in their final year of law school (appointment contingent upon admission).

Work Environment:

  • Dynamic, collegial atmosphere with opportunities for advancement (e.g., promotion to Attorney III).
  • Remote-centered telework schedule available based on operational needs.

  • May require travel for hearings and meetings with clients or witnesses.
