A company specializing in generative AI for image datasets approached us with specific data center requirements. They were seeking a fully managed service to minimize the need for frequent trips to and from the data center.

Initially, the client searched within California but encountered significant challenges due to limited capacity in the area. This prompted them to broaden their search, ultimately discovering our services through a Google search.

The real estate and implementation costs in California are substantially higher than in Texas. For instance, the cost of electricity through Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) in California is about 24 cents per KWH, approximately six times higher than the rates in Texas. Combined with the lack of available space, it became clear why operating their own GPUs in California was not feasible.

While working fully remotely can be challenging, our fully managed service alleviated their concerns. The client was reassured by our team's responsiveness, expertise, and familiarity with GPUs, and they trusted us to simplify the process—which is exactly what we did.

We provided a fully integrated solution managed entirely by our team. The client only needed to send us their servers. Upon arrival, we handled everything: cabling, labeling, rack and stack, and the PDUs.

Our fully managed service allows clients to send their servers, and we take care of everything from that point forward. In this case, we promptly racked the servers, cabled them, and even added a personal touch by placing their branded baseball cap on top and sending a photo of the setup.

Although the setup was straightforward, it required special PDUs and a solid understanding of high-density power cabling.

As with any project, there were challenges. One server arrived faulty from the manufacturer, so our team managed the return and replacement process, ensuring the issue was quickly resolved by our experienced technicians.

The Outcome: A Flexible and Future-Proof Setup

The client was thrilled with the fully managed package, which allowed their team to focus on critical tasks at their headquarters, without the need for frequent data center visits—even when occasional issues arose.

We continue to support the client as they move toward scaling their operations. Future plans include adding more GPUs as the company grows, and our team will be there to assist every step of the way.
