Calgary Co-op Closes Two Stores
Just some news here before heading out the door. I just read some news about Calgary Co-op and I have to say that I am pretty shocked while at the same time not surprised about them having to close a couple of stores in either the northwest or northeast. They are closing two stores in the north part of the city and I have to say that I am not too surprised about it because they ran into the same problems that most retail businesses run into.
They weren't getting enough business or any foot traffic into their stores which is always the main reason why most businesses close their doors in the first place. Customers are always the backbone for any business especially retail where most people go to when the need something. I figure that these stores weren't getting enough customers even though they had a lot of food supplied and stocked in their shelves.

As I have been saying, it all comes down to supply and demand. These two stores had a supply of food but they didn't have the demand when it came to attracting new customers while at the same time keeping their old ones. The upper managers at Co-op probably found out that they were running these stores in a saturated market where usually a lot of other stores were running their operations and customers were going to them.
Anyway, Co-op has a liquor store and some hash store in that area and can run these stores for most customers to go to. It looks like they will have to set up their shop where the demand is and just go from there because from what I have read they are opening a store in Marda Loop. Where in Marda Loop? I don't know but that area is always busy with customers due to having a lot of shops in that area and where people have the money. So it will be interesting to see how they do there.
