Calgary Climbing Centre
If you live in Calgary, chances are good that you take regular pilgrimages to the nearby Rocky Mountains to hike, camp, fish, cycle, golf, snow-shoe-ski-board, scuba dive, and/or ... mountain climb.
The new Calgary Climbing Centre located on the city’s west end along Highway #1, provides the latter cohort with a state-of-the-art facility to refine their primal primate climbing instincts.
The Centre’s exterior was conceived metaphorically as a ‘glacial erratic boulder’, and its four distinct facades address: a south public entry c/w a rappelling exit stairwell; a solid west exterior climbing wall; a contrasting transparent east wall providing daylighting within; and a staid south service face.
The cathedral-like interior enables individual and group climbing dynamics and socialization amidst a plethora of alien, ginormous bouldering terrain and kilter boards.
Drop in for a visit and prepared to be awestruck.
