Calgary-based Bridgeland Distillery wins 2 international awards

Two products from Calgary-based Bridgeland Distillery have received the highest possible rankings and accolades at the 2023 World Drinks Awards: Bridgeland Moscato Brandy and Bridgeland Eau De Vigne, Grappolo from Gewurztraminer!

The judging for the World Drinks Awards is rigorous with hundreds of International judges, with the final "World’s Best" tasting round in London, UK.

The Calgary-based distillery specializing in Brandy & Whisky has brought Alberta to the International Brandy Stage.

Bridgeland Moscato Brandy received a gold medal & style winner and was crowned the best product in the world in the "Brandy aged 2-3 yrs" category, and Bridgeland Eau De Vigne, Grappolo from Gewurztraminer received a gold medal & style winner and was crowned the best product in the world in the "Pomace / Marc" category. Pomace / Marc is the name of the category for Grappa products outside of Italy.

“Winning these awards is an amazing confirmation of our approach, the quality and the craft that goes into making our traditional products,” said Daniel Plenzik, Co-Founder of Bridgeland Distillery. “The fact that almost every single one of our products has now received a medal in provincial, national and international competitions means that we can now say we are a world-class distillery.”

Today, there are great brandies coming from Australia, South-Africa, USA and France. They were all participating at this year's competition and Bridgeland Distillery came up on top representing Canada. They are one of the very few distilleries in the world that utilizes single varietals of grapes in the making of brandy. In doing so, they are leading the innovation on the world stage of Brandy making, said the company.

Obtaining two?"Brandy Style winners"?is a first in the world for an Alberta-based distillery. The craft distilleries in Alberta are organized under the umbrella of the Alberta Craft Distilling Association.

"These medals demonstrate an exceptional level of achievement from the talented team at Bridgeland Distillery. Their ability to produce world-class spirits from raw ingredients shows an unparalleled commitment to craft. The award winning brandies and eau de vignes using Okanagan grapes exemplifies Bridgeland's commitment to using only the best local ingredients," says Stavros Karlos, Executive Director at the Alberta Craft Distilling Association.
