The Calendar
Chances are if you’re reading this article, you already use a calendar. I’m going to make a generalisation?and say that people who work with computers tend to benefit from the tools such as electronic calendars and task lists more?than those who don’t.
But even people working in practical occupations operating equipment, driving heavy vehicles,?saving lives or serving others, can benefit from the use of a calendar. Their work days and hours may?be set, but their personal time is?variable.
And this is where the benefit of a calendar is sometimes forgotten. Scheduling exercise, family time and social time into our weeks and months can help us ensure we have balance in our lives.
If we look at our calendar and we’re not seeing enough?exercise,?not enough time?spent with loved ones, or too much time working, then this should trigger some action. Author Annie Dillard reminds us to get some perspective on what we do every day because one day we'll be?old and will have spent our whole lives doing what we do now.
It’s 2024, and technology is amazing. Phones from one brand can talk to computers of another,?and even watches are in on it. They can sync our planning tools, remind us of birthdays or medical appointments, and suggest we get up and stretch if we’ve been at the desk for too long.
Are you walking around stressed trying to remember everything? Or are you letting people down because?you forget too much? Are you?spending your days doing the things that are important, or are?you playing catch up too often?
A calendar (even a pretty one that hangs on the wall) doesn’t run our lives. Used well it can give us insight into how we spend our days,?and help us live our best lives.?Are you using yours?
