CALCIUM FORMATE

Calcium Formate is a calcium salt of formic acid. Its a white, crystalline powder or granules.

Meaning:

Chemical Formula: Ca(HCOO)?

Formic Acid: Formic acid is the simplest carboxylic acid.

Calcium Salt: Calcium formate is formed when calcium reacts with formic acid.

Uses of Calcium Formate:

Construction:

• Cement Additive: Increases the early strength of concrete.
• Improves workability at lower temperatures.
• Reduces setting time.
• Helps prevent efflorescence (white deposits on the surface of concrete).
• Shotcrete: Used in shotcrete applications to improve adhesion and strength.

Animal Feed:

• Preservative: Used as an acidifier in animal feed, reducing the pH and inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria.
• Calcium Source: Provides a source of calcium for animals.

Other Uses:

• Leather Tanning: Used as a masking agent in leather tanning processes.
• Textile Industry: Used in textile auxiliaries and in the production of liquefied textile-reinforced concrete.
• Industrial Applications: Used in various industrial processes, such as in the production of synthetic resins and as an antifoaming agent.
• Environmental Applications: Desulfurization: Used in flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems to remove sulfur dioxide from industrial emissions.
