Calascio's Patio
Tips on how to achieve a good interior/exterior rendering using the sunlight and area lights:
- Start looking for a good reference.
- Setting the right camera position: central perspective is really easy to set up and helpful with the composition, it gives a good point of view and a right balance.
- The position of the Sun in a relationship with the Camera: never put the Sun behind the camera, or you flatten everything up, and the 3D effect is lost! Sculpt the geometry, sun in a lateral position helps to have a good shadowing.
- Avoid flat shadows: shape the shadows using objects out of the camera point of view. Trees, for example, are really useful.
- Look for contrasts on light balance and textures: take care of the interiors and its light balance. Don't flatten everything with the light, leave darker areas, they are important to achieve a pleasant result. Area lights are good to light big areas.
