Although much of the attention in the last few weeks has been on?Proposition 1, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved two important components of CalAIM implementation. First is the?reentry implementation plan?(PDF)?which describes clear milestones and identifies challenges to guide the rollout of this groundbreaking initiative to ensure Medi-Cal coverage as well as prerelease and reentry services for people leaving incarceration. In the second update,?CMS confirms that California has successfully brought provider rates?(PDF)?in primary care, nonspecialty mental health, and obstetrics closer to parity with Medicare?— as CMS had required last year. These documents are dry and technical but represent important steps forward in improvements in access and coordination for all Medi-Cal enrollees.
