President’s Corner — Employee Spotlight

As spring approaches, those traveling through CAK will find the modern amenities of a larger airport, however with the ease of a small hometown airport. We will strive to make your experience as seamless as possible. We are proud to now offer 18 nonstop destinations. CAK is well-positioned to offer travelers an easy getaway to their favorite destinations. With The Observation Deck restaurant recently opened (see below), along with planned retail and wellness options in the near future, we are committed to ensuring CAK remains the preferred Airport in Northeast Ohio. We are grateful for your unwavering support!

We could not perform our work for your benefit without the stellar contributions of our staff. As part of an ongoing effort to provide a much-deserved spotlight on our employees, we want to recognize?Royce Lumpcik.

Royce Lumpcik, Operations Specialist, started at CAK in August of 2022. Royce enjoys learning all facets of airport operations, while also serving as a member of the CAK Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting team. In his free time, you’ll find Royce at the North Lawrence Fire Department and spending time with his wife. Royce’s favorite vacation spot is Folly Beach, SC. Thank you, Royce, for making CAK ‘a better way to go.’ Your efforts make a tremendous impact.

Now Arriving at Akron-Canton Airport: The Observation Deck

The Observation Deck, a new full-service restaurant and bar at the Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) has opened just in time for spring break travel. CAK’s newest dining option is offering travelers a taste of local cuisine with a splendid view of the airfield activity. The Observation Deck’s signature menu will offer a variety of options from seasonal salads to breakfast served all day, including lox bagel, avocado toast and pancakes.

Customers will also find a familiar favorite on the menu, Menches Brothers Hamburgers. Partnering with Menches through United Concessions Group (UCG) advances efforts to showcase Northeast Ohio for those looking to support ‘local’ when they land at the airport.

Allegiant to Myrtle Beach

Family-friendly beaches, fantastic golf courses, and endless activities are a quick flight away when you start your Myrtle Beach vacation at CAK.?New, nonstop service to Myrtle Beach (MYR) is set to begin June 1, 2023 aboard Allegiant.?Find low cost fares from $68 each way on select dates.

CAK 5K on the Runway

Registration is open,?Run, walk, or jog?— just don't wait to register for our 6th annual CAK 5K on the Runway.?The race will be held on?Sunday, August 6th, 2023. Choose between three shirt options representing one of your favorite teams or our new CAK colorway.

All race proceeds will be donated to MAPS Air Museum and Stewart’s Caring Place.?Please share with your family, friends, and fellow aviation-enthusiasts.
