I’ve got a pretty big question for you.
‘Have you become a bit complacent and too comfortable in your business?’
It’s one to ponder.
And when you think a bit more about your business, do you find yourself saying: ‘I'm not really achieving what I could, but I don’t know whether I want to put more effort in’?
Perhaps you’re unsure what your business potential is, or what it's going to take to get it growing.
Maybe you’re bored or fed-up with your business.
Having a seven-year itch?
You wouldn’t be the first business owner to think ‘I'm not really feeling this right now!’ If it were a job, you’d be thinking of a change, but running your own business can often feel like a cage you’ve made for yourself.
Selling is not always an option, so where do you go from here? How do you regain your mojo and get a new zest for life?
Let me take you back to the early days of your business, when you were excited about what was going to happen; even though you knew there was a whole load of hard work ahead of you.
It’s common to feel you’ve been on a hamster wheel and the ‘joie de vivre’ has gone now that things have settled down.
It’s typical to think that kick-starting new activity or growth in your business means the prospect of harder and longer working hours and making changes that will upset your staff.
But that doesn’t necessarily have to happen to reignite excitement and energy.
If you’re feeling less than enthusiastic about your business, you can be sure that your staff are feeling it too.
You need to take advantage of some opportunities. You need to make your business more effective so that you can get more profit out of your current activity.
You know that some business owners who are trying to grow their businesses have experienced a whole lot more stress. And admit it, there’s been times when you think you might as well go back to corporate land, do the 12-hour day and commuting slog, and work as a small part of a big team.
Then you remember the reason why you started your business was so that you can change all that.
You didn’t imagine that you’d start to stagnate.
So it's time to inject some new dynamism into your business and your life.
And it starts with having a plan. Start thinking about the big dreams you had before the day-to-day running of your business took over.
There IS an opportunity for a bigger, better life, without longer working hours, having more stress and worrying about cash flow.
You have to start with you first!
Turning the dial in your business to really step it up a notch can be exciting, especially when you use the energy of the right people in your team. Generating a plan to fulfil your goals – both personal and business – and identifying what your role in the business will be, is crucial.
Creating consistent processes and systems that help your team deliver the plan, and still give you greater income without restricting your freedom, is when everything has come together.
Imagine what it would be like to think about your business with a fresh set of eyes and know that it could be reaching its true potential. It’s a bit like being an athlete training for the Olympics. You know that there’s training to do every day. And like the athlete, you don’t do it on your own; you’re supported by a team.
If this has started to make you think about reigniting your enthusiasm for your business and your zest for life, whilst getting more out of the assets you have, then give me a call.
With a few tweaks in your business, we can really start moving it to a whole new level.
