Cadey Charfen, my secret weapon

I am one of life's lottery winners. I don't know why but I assure you that I am. Every day I get to wake up next to, and fortunately sometimes underneath or on top of, Cadey Mayo Charfen. She is gorgeous, wickedly intelligent, witty, and makes me feel like I have protection and support and we can do anything together.

The day after I met Cadey I called my mom and told her I met the woman I was going to marry. Any delusion I am on Facebook in order to make myself look cool is permanently disproved with this admission.

Our daughters, Reagan who is eight, and Kennedy who is six, both consider her their hero. When we go shopping the goal is never to buy clothes, the goal is always to buy clothes like Mommy's. 'Just like Mommy's' is the highest designation an item of clothing can achieve. The connection Cadey has with our daughters is grounding and motivating for both of them.

Cadey also runs our primary business, supervises our coaching department and runs several multimillion dollar real estate businesses on the side as part of our long-term wealth strategy. She has also been writing and we are releasing a podcast called Making Love & Business Work - more later.

Here is a recent dialogue I had with my wife:

ME: Cadey, I want a Ferrari.

CADEY: Why?

ME: Because I am getting old and if I get a Ferrari I want to be able to enjoy it.

CADEY: You are in better shape than anyone I know and you feel held back by slower drivers every time you go to the track. What is really going on?

ME: Um...
Sebastian Vettel won the race this weekend...
It was an amazing moment for Ferrari...
He dedicated the race to Jules Bianchi...
It was really emotional and magical...
If you understand the tradition and history it was amazing...
and....

CADEY: yes...

ME: and um, well, I want to be a part of that club.

CADEY: OK, we don't make decisions like this on the fly, you have been talking about a Ferarri for years. If you are ready to do this lets sell a couple of your cars and clear space in the garage, put milestones in place and do it.

ME: OK, uh, thank you. Is it OK if I go run a few miles?

In seconds Cadey lowers pressure and noise, clarifies today, helps me with outcomes and moves us forward.

For these reasons and more it always surprises me when I get emails like the one in the image above. This one was particularly weird as it comes from another coach who attended our event for free as our guest.
