The tragic loss of a 26-year-old CA at EY may force one to ask, if the pressure was so intense, why didn’t she just quit? The truth is, as CAs, we are taught to never give up, whether it’s exams or the workplace.
From the very initial stage of our CA journey, we learn to handle failure and pressure, no matter how many attempts it takes. We keep going, knowing that success will come if we don’t quit and one day when success knocks our door we know hanging around in life made a lot of sense.
But even the strongest can break under unbearable pressure.
Like a Diamond, that takes ages to get its strength to become the toughest naturally made material a CA is also tough and has capabilities to endure under adverse circumstances.
But with excessive pressure and hammering even a diamond may break. We all have our breaking points.
Her decision surely reflects the degree of pressure she would have faced from her workplace and this isn’t just a personal loss but a wake-up call for all of us.
No words would suffice for such a tragic incident, and no one can feel what her parents would be going through.
It is surely a wake-up call for all including CA Aspirants, CA at Work and their Bosses, Organisations employing CAs and ICAI
