C4 BENEFITS PART 2: NEW GENERATION

This article is a?second part of the C4 Benefits. It focuses mainly on the advantages brought by the new generation of the C4 System. C4 Transformers enables using a?new strategy of uploading access rights and implementation of the full-scale configuration of the devices in the same extent as in the original application of the device manufacturer. The new generation also includes an automation and workflow module. Within the Incident management module, so called tickets are introduced. More will be presented in the following article.

SELECTIVE UPLOAD

One of the key components of any security and access control system is the management of cards, codes, and other identifiers. The C4 System's earlier versions provided two strategies for uploading access rights: Full Upload and Incremental Upload.?

Full Upload involves transferring all access rights settings from the C4 System to the device in one package. Due to its time-consuming nature, this method is typically performed once every 24 hours, usually overnight. On the other hand, Incremental Upload transfers only the changes in access rights that occurred since the last upload. Both strategies are device-specific, meaning they are executed on one device at a time.?

The new generation of the C4 System introduces a third strategy called Selective Upload. This option significantly enhances the speed of applying access rights by allowing the permissions of a person or a small group to be uploaded to all access systems simultaneously. This feature is particularly valuable for customers with a visitor module or those needing rapid card replacement for employees.




DEVICE CONFIGURATION

A critical requirement, especially for large installations, is using the security system for more than just monitoring and control. Customers often need to configure their devices without switching to the original device software. The new version of the C4 System allows implementation of the full-scale configuration of the devices in the same extent as in the original application of the device manufacturer.

For each device type, developers can create custom panels that allow configuring specific parameters required by the client. For instance, a lighting system might have a panel for setting different colors for various presets, which can then be launched in automation. Similarly, panels can be developed for setting parameters on detectors for triggering alarms or setting longer door opening times for disabled individuals. The new C4 System allows for the development of panels tailored precisely to the client's needs.

AUTOMATION AND WORKFLOW

Automation is another area where the C4 System excels. The current generation includes a new automation and workflow module that uses Smart Routines. Gamanet provides a basic set of these routines, which can be extended by custom routines developed to meet specific customer requirements.

Smart Routines can be activated by three types of signals: the occurrence of a certain event, a change in the state of a device, or a scheduled activation at a specific time. In previous C4 System generations, automatic actions were available, but in the new version, these are incorporated within a Log Routine.

A Smart Routine consists of two parts: set of conditions and actions. The system evaluates the conditions, and if met, it performs a defined action. Developers can define a range of parameters for creating conditions. For example, a Log Routine might involve configuring parameters related to a device, event, person, or region.?

The new C4 System also supports creating compound conditions with parentheses, allowing for complex logic in automation. When all conditions are met, the system triggers the defined action or set of actions.

Actions in the C4 System are classified into two types: server-side actions, like sending a command to a device or an email, and client-side actions, such as displaying an instruction to an operator or showing live video. For a single set of conditions, both types of actions can be combined.

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

The flexibility of the C4 System extends to its Incident Management module, which centralizes all information and events related to a particular security situation. The new version introduces tickets, which group and organize related information into a common registry. Two main types of tickets—visit and incident—are currently available, with the potential for future expansion.

An incident ticket gathers all events that require attention and processing. Multiple individuals, such as operators, security guards, or managers, can collaborate on resolving an incident. All events are saved in the central database as independent entries but are also connected through the incident ticket.

CONTEXT MONITOR

The Context Monitor is another innovative feature in the new C4 System. This module helps operators quickly and accurately evaluate security situations by providing historical information related to a specific item. For example, if a person triggers an alarm by passing through a door, the operator can immediately see which other doors that person has passed through. The Context Monitor simplifies access to relevant data, allowing operators to make informed decisions efficiently.

FULL OFFICE CONTROL FROM MOBILE APP

Finally, the C4 System's mobile application enhances the management of industrial security installations by allowing remote interventions. Whether granting quick access to premises or issuing commands to devices, the mobile app covers approximately 80% of the desktop application's functionalities. It is compatible with both Android and iOS, making it a versatile tool for security management on the go.
