C2030 to host The Millennium Project in Canada, Eric No?l appointed Chair
MILLENNIUM PROJECT CANADA
- Today is the Millennium Project’s 25th Anniversary.
- Canada Towards 2030 to host the Canadian Node of the Project with Eric No?l appointed Chair of the MILLENNIUM PROJECT CANADA
Established 25 years ago, on February 14, 1996, the Millennium Project is a global network of futurists and foresight organizations dedicated to federating long-term thinking and future-oriented experts and projects, to sharing better insights into the future of the world, and to improving it. The Millennium Project was created following a three-year feasibility study led by the UN University, the Smithsonian Institution, Futures Group International and American Council for the UNU.
An autonomous NGO since 2009, the Millennium Project organises and shares research initiatives on the future of humanity’s challenges, of long-term trends, as well as of specific topics. The international network has grown to more than 65 “Nodes” or chapters around the world and it connects the national and global perspectives of futurists, academics, strategic planning executives, investors, and policy-makers. Through its collaborative thinking and shared resources (proprietary data, information and software), the Millennium Project can query thousands of experts and produce original contents, such as its State of the Future reports, and lead sponsored, syndicated and custom research. The Millennium Project also promotes best practices on “how to” think and explore the future in order to improve forecasting and our ability to meet tomorrow’s challenges and make better decisions now.
Today, we are announcing that the Canadian Node of the Millennium Project will be hosted by Canada Towards 2030, the node will be referred to as “Millennium Project Canada”, and will be chaired by Eric No?l, the founder of the Canada Towards 2030 project. Our objective will be (1) to facilitate the participation and input of Canada and Canadians in this global network, (2) to exchange and adapt ideas and resources about our long-term challenges with other nodes, and (3) to create shared initiatives for bilateral and multilateral foresight research, including joint scenarios exercises.
Further announcements regarding Millennium Project Canada’s discussion groups, special research projects and events will follow in the coming months.
If long-term thinking and foresight in a global context and if the Millennium Project community are of interest to you or to someone you know, please get in touch.
Looking forward to assembling a vibrant group of interested and interesting long-term thinkers within the Millennium Project Canada, we wish a happy anniversary to the Millennium Project and want to congratulate its founders, Mr. Jerome Glenn and Mr. Theodore Gordon. We also want to thank our past-chair, Mr. Karl Schroeder, a Toronto-based futurist and science fiction writer.
With best regards,
Eric No?l
