C-Therm Newsletter: January 2023 Edition
We have used the Trident from C-Therm on our new research developments at the Interdisciplinary Center Of Chemistry and Biology in Spain and we are happy with the equipment. - Juan Manuel Bermúdez García, PhD
Angela Kondinska?and?Dr. Rogin Gilbert?joined C-Therm representatives as guest speakers on behalf of?Emma – The Sleep Company?for a webinar last month. They touched upon the importance of sleep and overnight thermal comfort and elaborated on the application of the MTPS method in characterizing foams and textiles as the building blocks of the bedding microclimate and the significance of thermal effusivity and conductivity in building a mattress. Recent innovations in calorimetry by? Rigaku ?have resulted in the development of sample observation calorimetry – the first of its kind. Sample observation technology allows for the accurate determination of heat events with visual confirmation. Changes in shape and color can easily be observed. This is invaluable when trying to differentiate endothermic heat events. Learn more about the technology, by clicking here ?.
The thermal conductivity of TIMs is considered a critical performance attribute or specification to the material.?The thermal conductivity of the TIM is heavily influenced by its make up, usually with conductive fillers. TIM testers don't pick up one of the biggest issues in working with filled composites (e.g. sedimentation, agglomeration, etc.). Learn more about how's C-Therm MTPS can help both in the lab and in production environments by clicking here ?.

With the rise of electric vehicles (EVs), new problems with thermal management are emerging. Preventing thermal runaway of the battery pack requires the use of thermally conductive adhesives, and thermal interface materials (TIMs). However, the large volumes required for thermal management of EVs means that more attention needs to be paid to filler dispersion, distribution, and sedimentation. But what is the difference between dispersion, distribution, and sedimentation? Learn about it by clicking here ?.
Vibrations are the periodic motion of a particle or body.?A great example of vibrations that most of us encounter is riding in a vehicle.?Whether it’s the city bus or our car, it will vibrate during our commute. The blog talks about measuring damping performance of viscoelastic materials to isolate or absorb these vibrations. It also features?METRAVIB Design?DMA and how it was used to measure the performance. Learn more about it by clicking here ?.
