If the C-Suite is your goal

Can you imagine the C-Suite? The top executive level of an organization or business unit. It’s a focus of many upwardly mobile professionals that comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility. Unfortunately, most aspiring managers and executives are unprepared to embrace one of the most important duties of a top executive – the purpose of the organization. They have the best education money can buy, and a ton of experience that qualifies them for the role, but purpose is the missing tool that limit their ability to function in top roles.

Senior Executive Advisor, Nikos Mourkogiannis states, “I believe that purpose turns out to be the quality that CEOs most need in order to do their jobs well. Purpose is what they look for in executives that succeed them. Purpose is the difference between good and great, between honorable success and legendary performance, between fifteen minutes of fame and a legacy.”

IESE, MIT, Harvard Business School, Michigan Ross, Yale, HEC Paris, and London Business School are some of the top executive schools in the world. They provide education that’s second to none when it comes to functioning in a global business environment. Many allude to the effects of purpose on the corporate culture, but come short on how to hack purpose for Meaningful Excellence?.

In recent years, purpose has gained traction in creating a culture that supports the purpose of the brand. It’s not only a function of the organization, but also a major function of the human soul that drive attitudes and behaviors to impact people in a positive manner. Although many consulting firms are getting in the purpose game, they are falling short in helping executives understand how purpose empowers them to build a personal brand that people know, like, and trust. Unfortunately, if executives fail to manage purpose on a personal level, they will increase the risk of failing to manage purpose on a corporate level.

The question remains, what is Meaningful Excellence? and how can it position leaders to function in the top roles of an organization? It’s a term I coined after spending almost thirty years and well over 20,000 plus hours mastering systems and strategies that captures the soul’s ability to sustain a strong sense of purpose. It’s the quality or state of being outstanding, or extremely good at sustaining a strong sense of purpose under all circumstances.

While many thought-leaders focus on mastering what a person can do with gifts and talents. The Purpose Development? approach to purpose is focusing on being extremely good at what you can become through Meaningful Excellence?. The higher you go on the corporate ladder, it’s not a matter of how good you are at what you do, but how good you are at translating your purpose to function in a role, into driving the purpose of the organization.
