--Mulyani: GDP growth aim of 5.6% in 2018 is ambitious and credible
JAKARTA - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani today said even though the
economic growth target of 5.6% for 2018 was lower than the government's
earlier aim, it was ambitious and optimistic but credible.
Initially, the government had set the GDP growth target for next year at
5.4-6.1%, but lowered it because of domestic economic developments and global
factors.
"Uncertainty in the global economy still remains and geopolitical factors
in several countries (may impact Indonesia's economy)," she said.
Mulyani said the GDP target for 2018 saw exports, investments, and
household consumption as the main drivers for economic growth.
"We have considered current economic developments (in setting the GDP
growth target for 2018), including the momentum of growth in 2016, and GDP
growth estimate for this year," she said.
She sees the economy growing at 5.2% this year, higher than the budget
estimate of 5.1%.
