John Jeffcock the CEO of Winmark and Author of The Suite Spot believes that the C-Suite isn’t for everybody. When he interviewed various managing directors for his book the Suite Spot, he asked them what advice they would give to a 30-year old vying for the C-level.?
The number one answer he received was to: Check Your Ambition.?

John shares that it isn’t best to rush into anything. The average age these days will make it to 104 before they pass away. This essentially means that they will spend about 60 years working as a pension only pays out for 20 years.?
Therefore, it’s best to do something that truly interests you. For example, if you’re interested in animals, you should do something interesting in that industry. Ultimately, John shares that you should work hard and try not to give up. However, you should never endure when you’re miserable.?
The C-Suite isn’t everything and isn’t for everyone. There are plenty of more admirable ways to contribute to society.?
He shares an example, of an individual who takes in children in trauma (who’ve lost their parents to an accident) without any notice. According to John, this individual is far more admirable than a finance director.?
