"Bye and thanks! Hope I Never See You Again!"

"Bye and thanks! Hope I Never See You Again!"

I said these words with a huge smile on my face yesterday.

“Bye, and thanks! And I hope I never see you again!”

The response back to me?

“Bye, Cindy! Thanks so much! Great to meet you!” Followed by a belly laugh.

Here’s what happened:

I was out for an appointment in the morning when my car battery decided it was done with me.

After at least a dozen failed jump attempts, my friend drove me across town to a meeting I couldn’t miss. Then we called Road Angels.

2 Uber rides and $395 later, Matt and Ed showed up. They popped in a new battery, fixed my car like a shiny new dime and said, “OK, you’re all set. This should last you at least 5 to 6 years.”

And that’s when I just blurted out, “That’s perfect! Thanks! Then I hope I never see you again!”

They got it. We all had a good laugh. A 5-star customer service experience!

Because honestly? My entire day was bananas. Bonkers. Twilight-zone weird.

? My car quit on me.

? I had to cancel every single meeting.

? And a few other bizarre things happened that made me question if I was on some hidden camera show.

Have you had one of those days lately?

Where the victory isn’t crushing your to-do list but just surviving the chaos?

Some days, the best you can do is laugh, shake your head, and move on.

And today? I don’t even have the brain power to tie this to messaging (which, let’s be honest, I always find a way to do). So this one's on you to pull a thread if you have one to add!

For me, today is just a random post I hope gives you a good belly laugh.

And to you, my dear readers—

“Bye! I hope I DO see you again!”

Here's hoping your day is NOT bonkers - cheers!

Oh, I’ve had one of those days. When just making it to the end without throwing my phone out the window feels like an achievement. Love how you turned a total mess into a great story.

A great reminder when we're on the service side, Cindy. Where we usually are. We have a client on the other side whose whole day was bananas. ?? The other day I was driving to work and there was a traffic jam on the road. Didn't really bother me, as I was on the bicycle as usual :) But there was a driver, honking impatiently. Crazy man, I thought at first. But then I wondered, perhaps he has a pregnant wife in the car, having contractions... I would probably honk too ;)

Days like this are about resilience. It's easy when you're going with the current or in the groove. When you're not sometimes you're really not. How you handled this shows high executive function being able to see beyond the immediate issue of the battery to make the meeting, get the battery replaced, and appreciate those that helped you back on track in a graceful way. Sure, you could have allowed your emotions to get the better of you and pitched a fit like a kindergartner but would that have produced the desired results or just made you feel momentarily better while killing your chances for the graceful recovery. Excellent example, thanks for sharing.

This article is a great reminder that in life, sh-- (stuff) happens. So what. Move on. Makes me think of the Yiddish adage, "We plan. God laughs."

Cindy Skalicky ??. Peak adulting moment: paying almost $400 for the privilege of not needing to see someone again. Glad you got back on the road!
