Bye, 2023.

Bye, 2023.

Last year almost broke me mentally, but what it gave me was a ton of self-reflection. I didn't break mentally in 2023 for many reasons, but I believe it's because I lived my life with intention at every turn. With Mama Dukes passing in late 2022, I went to a therapist regularly for grief counseling, I focused on my health with intermittent fasting, strength training three times a week, and eating more protein. I focused on my sleep by reducing my alcohol intake and late-night doom scrolling. Most importantly, I spent quality time with people in my village who encouraged me while keeping me accountable for my values. I strived to treat my kids like my mom treated me, with boatloads of grace, embracing their individuality, and celebrating even the smallest of wins. After much consideration of how to embody this intentionality even further, this year my word is GROUNDED.?

Although staying present is key, this word goes far beyond mindfulness for me. GROUNDED refers to the message on last year’s vision board - “The Strength My Mother Left Me.” GROUNDED means leaning into my faith and trusting my intuition.?

This year I will stay true to my roots:? practicing gratitude, focusing on what matters most, and striving to be better today than I was yesterday. I will revel in the beauty of nature at every opportunity.

I will dedicate time to those who fuel my fire and who value what I bring to the relationship.?

I will take care of myself mentally and physically, making sure my cup is full before pouring it into others.??

Living grounded doesn't mean avoiding challenges, instead, I’ll be facing them head-on, with resilience and a steady heart.?

In a world of highlight reels and filters, let’s strive to lead lives that are not only successful on the surface, but also deeply meaningful and connected.?

Let's anchor ourselves in the values that bring fulfillment, cultivating a spirit of gratitude, and finding joy in the ordinary.

I’m curious, what grounds you?

Very nice Joy- Thanks for sharing. Everyone of us is on this same journey. 1) I Workout spiritually. Put God first. He loves us unconditionally and never gives us too much. Put on the armor of His love and everything be all right. Start my days with daily reflections and my Catholic Mass. 2) I do workout three time a week. You have got to feel good about yourself physically and mentally 3) Family and friends- be there for them and they will be there for you. 4) Don't be hard on yourself, do your best and most importantly, Let go and Let God. Love ya Girl.
