Bye 2023, hello 2024
2023 is over. It has become a tiny node in the long long history.
In 2023, most people may not live so easily.
The Russia-Ukraine war was still going on, the war between Palestine and Israel was rising again, and then in mid-December, there was another Red Sea crisis. Peace and stability are so important and precious to the entire world and a country. For us ordinary people, no matter how difficult it is, the most fortunate thing is that we live, live in safety and peace.
The worse the economy is, the more unrest the society will be. What kind of big situation will it be in 2024? I hope that what has happened will end as soon as possible, and what has not happened will disappear in the rolling dust of mortals. Of course, for an individual, life is everything. But for a country, there may be times when lives must be exchanged for lives. Therefore, if you have to choose, then firmly choose a strong country to live in.
For me, 2023 was not so bad.
In business, there was a small breakthrough and a new business field was developed. Let’s see what kind of gains there will be in 2024.
In the study, I kept reading in the second half of the year. I have read three novels in English (The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and The Slaughterhouse) and am preparing to read my first Spanish short story collection.
In sports, I accidentally ran a half-marathon in mid-November. For me, who has always been adhering to healthy exercise and running about 5 kilometers every day, the biggest experience this half-marathon gave me is: everything is possible, and I shall try my best to be good to everyone at any time. Don't judge by labeling.
AND, the most heartwarming thing in 2023 will be the everyday video call to my old mother aged 83. She is so old and so far from me (about 600kms). She lives alone and will not come to live with me. So what I can do is to call her on WeChat every day.
In 2024, there are many uncertain and negative factors in the whole world, but history always moves forward, and our lives will not stop even for a moment. Therefore, instead of being fearful or confused, it is better to keep your eyes on your own feet for the time being, take every step well, and live every day well.
Of course, I always believe that, for me, the most difficult period is over. Everything is moving upwards, even though slowly I know it is in the upward direction. So, no matter what, welcome and experience 2024 in a calm and happy mood.
Everything is a process, there is no beginning nor end. As long as we are all well and can be well, that's fine.
