If you've seen Joker: Folie à Deux, then you'll agree that Un is better than Deux, Joaquin Phoenix still excels as Joker, but something about it felt slightly predictable, nonetheless it's defo worth a watch. Anyway, whilst I sat watching ads and eating all the popcorn before the movie even started (oops) I was intrigued by a new film coming out soon 'The Apprentice' a story of how a young Donald Trump started his real estate business, starring Sebastian Stan as Donald himself and Jeremy Strong as the well know New-York prosecutor Roy Cohn. It's had mixed reviews since its release at Cannes Film Festival, but praise for the acting makes it seem like it's a must see.?
I recently watched Kneecap (2024) and I really think it’s this generation’s Trainspotting (1996), except with (somehow) more drugs and reclaiming the Irish language. Kneecap follows the true story of how the lives of three young men intertwine in Belfast to create one of the first ever Irish hip-hop groups, with the actual band Kneecap starring as themselves. What ensues is at once hilarious, touching and a really astute commentary on the history of Ireland, the legacy the violence has left in the city of Belfast but also the beauty in being proud of your heritage. Oh, and if you watch it, you’ll be listening to addictive Kneecap tracks for days on end. - Phoebe Brown | Press Officer at BFI Festivals?

I recently rewatched True Detective Season 1, something I do at least once a year. Matthew McConaughey’s performance as Rust Cohle is absolutely incredible and still feels underrated. It’s crazy that he didn’t win an Emmy or Golden Globe, but going up against Bryan Cranston’s Walter White in Breaking Bad during its peak was tough luck. Woody Harrelson was also fantastic, and the writing and storyline were on another level. To be clear, I’m only talking about Season 1 here—definitely one of the GOAT TV shows ever. - Levan Seskuria | Sales Manager at Filmworkz
