It's looking to be a busy month with lots going on at Filmworkz, and in turn, hopefully for you too!?
Our massive news is that our DVOs are now going to be available as Adobe plugins, which we couldn't be more excited about, and from sharing this information with a lucky few insiders, its looking like you will be as well... We are hoping that this collaboration opens up a whole new world of opportunity for creatives, making it more accessible and providing a workspace to the 33 million people that pay to use the Adobe Creative Cloud that can now use the best of what Filmworkz has to offer from the 5th of August.
As mentioned above, Fabio Bedoya has graced our - and hopefully your - screens ?with another Classroom session, this time taking us through how you can use the DVO plugins on Adobe.?
For all you tech-y minded folk, you'll be happy to learn that a Dolby Vision update is coming along, as well as an Arri update, which we'll share more about in the future when it get's closer to its release. For more information about our software, you can always visit our Filmworkz Forum and ask questions.
Taking a little peruse at what films are coming up, it's easy to feel uninspired by the choices available in August. I was about to give up all hope for a cracking outro to The Buzz's 'Coming Up' section, when lo behold - is that... is it a plane? is it bird? No, gentle reader, it is Despicable Me 4. Hold the front pages people, we've got ourselves a good 'un. No need to check out what other movies are coming out this month (if you're really curious, you can always follow along on our Letterboxd for our stellar, world-class reviews) - there's no need! Watch it on repeat. I'm signing off now as I buy a reclining VIP seat for this 95 minute baddie.
For many, Lost in Translation (2003) seems like a slow-paced, even boring movie, but its pace really reflects the feeling of the crazy jet-lag, constant tiredness and dreamy feel of going to Japan. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson's characters finding each other in a place of their lives where they feel lost makes the unlikely friendship shine on screen with the masterful direction from Sofia Coppola, who won an Oscar for the script. - Gustavo Mendes
Watch it on Prime Video
I'm a bit obsessed with Harris Dickinson at the moment, I just think he's totally brilliant and has had me hooked since his gritty performance in Triangle of Sadness (2022). In Scrapper (2023), directed by Charlotte Regan, we follow the heart warming story of a young girl's reconnection with her estranged, Ibiza-loving father after the death of her mum. Cue tears, some gorgeous cinematography, and a lovely insight into community on Britain's estates.
