Our very own Jo Griffin is heading to the Glasgow Film Festival, where she'll be catching Billy Connolly: Big Banana Feet?(1977), that was restored by R3store using Phoenix DVOs. Thought to have been lost, a copy popped up on eBay and the BFI's Doug Weir (check out his interview with Filmtalkz here!) managed to get his hands on this iconic film. With the magic of DVO Stability and Auto Dirt, the film is now ready for public viewing once again at the festival and for purchase from the BFI Shop.
Dune: Part Two is making its debut this month and we can't wait to see where Paul Atreides takes us next. With breathtaking cinematography and a star studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Florence Pugh, this soon-to-be sci-fi classic isn't one to miss.
The much anticipated Academy Awards are taking place this month too, and film fans are eager to find out who is crowned Best Picture. After Oppenheimer's winning streak, the tensions are high in the showdown against Barbie. We're eager to see how some of the other biggest blockbusters will fare: our money's on Emma Stone for Best Actress.?Catch our reviews over on our Letterboxd as we frantically watch all the nominees in time (still haven't seen Killers of the Flower Moon - sue me, it's three hours long!).
To be honest, the jury's still out on Poor Things - still trying to grapple with some of the baby's-brain-in-adult-woman conundrums. What's for certain is an outrageously good costume department, brilliant directoral vision, and a dance sequence for the ages. - Sophia
