My Story – Buyers Realtor Pty Ltd

This is my story. I am a buyers’ agent trading under the name Buyers Realtor Pty Ltd. In this role I buy places of principal residence and/or investment for my clients.

Prior to that I worked as a chaplain in hospitals and residential care. In that role I came to listen and empathise with people over the issues in their lives. Some of their problems were to do with property, mortgages and estates.

So I focused on the anxieties people experienced when purchasing property. I advised those: who were time poor, that had difficulty in getting into the market, making a loss from sale, issues relating to zoning, poor capital growth and difficulties over council approvals.

The concept of a buyers’ agent where a real estate agent acts only for the buyer, is a relatively new concept in Australia. But we are simply the real estate agent representing the interests of the buyer.

People ask, how do buyers’ agent go about their business. As a first step we sit down with the buyer to assess the buyer’s needs and objectives. From this we draft a specification which lists the type of house the buyer is wanting to buy. This is then locked into a contract

As a buyers’ agent I am a giver. I give time to my client. I give sound advice to my client. I give access to my buyer network. I give my understanding of the anxieties of buyers. I give my knowledge of the market to the buyer and I give my experience to the buyer. At the end of the day I present to the buyer five properties that best match the agreed specifications. From the options the buyer chooses the one property he wants to buy.

But what guides me as a buyers’ agent is: ethics, honesty, care of my client and loyalty to my client. The real test for my service is whether I have improved the lot of the client. When I have given the client what they have requested and improved their lot, I know I have given good service. That’s why I am in business.
