ButterflyMX Recognized by Inc. Magazine: Why Our Employees Thrive

We’re honored to have been recognized by Inc Magazine’s Best Places to Work list for the second year in a row. At ButterflyMX, our motto is “property access made simple”. This philosophy carries over into the workplace when it comes to our employee’s well-being.?

There’s no need for complications when it comes to giving employees what they need to flourish. In creating our work culture and crafting our employee benefits, we’ve asked ourselves, what does any employee hope for from their company and work environment? For us, we’ve discovered several factors that help our employees thrive.?

The first is a comprehensive benefits package that includes staples such as healthcare and 401k contributions. From here, we offer employees four weeks of paid vacation (which numbers 20 days per year!) in addition to one floating holiday. We make sure that for the bigger holidays, such as Thanksgiving, employees only work a half day the day before. Additionally, employees have five sick days.?

Because so many of our employees work from home, our employees’ well-being is of high importance to us. As a result, we offer our employees a quarterly stipend that they can spend on a wide variety of things, including cell phone bills, monthly gym memberships, and even dining and travel.?

Second, we prioritize creating an environment of growth. For many of our employees, ButterflyMX is one part of a long career in their chosen field, and our management teams are realistic about this.?

Most employees won’t be with ButterflyMX for the rest of their lives. However, it’s our goal to make sure that the time an employee spends working with us is a rewarding one that will play a significant part in their career growth.?

Our teams encourage learning and continued education no matter an employee's age or experience. For example, members of our marketing team take weekly courses on Udemy, an educational site that offers over 210,000 courses on everything from Python programming to SEO optimization.?

The third most important factor to our employee’s well-being is to provide them with an environment of trust and initiative. We encourage our employees to share ideas, criticism, and insight into our daily operations and special projects. When an employee shows interest in a project or task that they haven’t done before, we encourage them to step outside of their comfort zone and take a shot at it.?

Lastly, at ButterflyMX we try to foster a sense of community. With so many employees working from home, it’s difficult to nurture the same type of relationships that would form at a full-time, in-person office. However, we address this challenge by having multiple in-person team onsites throughout the year.?

When interviewed for our employee spotlights in our blog, many of our employees list the team meetups as one of the highlights of their year. To go from working independently and virtually to working side-by-side in our Manhattan office is a big thrill. Not to mention the fun and laughter that comes with doing team-building exercises and getting dinner and drinks with coworkers who you’ve only ever met through a Zoom call.??

While all of those factors we listed when it comes to making our company a great place to work are extensive, they’re all simple in philosophy. We treat our employees like people who want to work to live. From growing as professionals in the (virtual) office to experiencing life and all it has to offer outside of the office, we give our employees an environment that makes them excited to get back to work each Sunday night.?

Along with Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces recognition comes a ton of new ButterflyMX-themed swag that we’ve released through our ButterflyMX shop. In addition to t-shirts, polos, and crewnecks in multiple color schemes, we’ve released a fleece vest. And for headwear, we now have a Baxter Beanie to go with our classic twill cap.?

Our featured Swag has extended to include useful products for our employees, such as an insulated coffee mug that will keep everybody’s favorite beverage steaming hot hours after it’s brewed. For productivity, we have a softcover journal that’s lightweight and folds up easily.?

And when it comes to travel for both conventions and in-office meetups, we have several bags to choose from. These include a standard backpack, a fancy Turlee Tote bag with multiple pockets (which also doubles as an over-the-shoulder backpack), and lastly, a Hobbs Double bag with a leather pouch that can loop through a belt or toss over a shoulder.?
