This is for all you super busy people, the important ones.
I will make it quick and snappy, cause I know you haven’t got much time.
You are tired and under pressure.
You are drinking alcohol, eating crap food, maybe even taking cocaine.
Basically, you are using stuff as a treat and reward, or to cope.
You need a release.
Actually, you don’t, this is what you need.
If you are tired - do less, relax, sleep, its really simple. For years I looked for a magic potion, well actually I found a few that did help in the short term, but I was borrowing, borrowing on energy I didnt have. When really all I needed to do was do less, sleep more and relax.
If you are busy, do less. Now if you are really stuck with this, if it’s a work thing, get yourself a good leadership coach that can help you figure out how you are spending your time.
One of my favourite conversations with a busy CEO is this one, they tell me they are busy, I ask them what their day looks like. About half of what they are doing, if not more, isn’t their job. They are sticking their beak into other people’s jobs. Do your job and do it well, do less get more, I know cheesy but true.
When I talk to busy people there are always things they can drop, outsource of ask for help with.
Now let’s move on to the crap.
Alcohol is a poison, it’s a highly addictive, hugely habit forming substance. If you drink regularly then you are probably putting undue stress onto your body and brain, it will also impact on your ability to get good quality sleep. So if you are tired, under pressure, busy, you need all the help you can get nutritionally. That means putting good fuel in your body so it can work well.
You wouldn’t buy a top of the range Mercedes and put orange juice in it, you put the fuel in that is recommended to help the car perform and last longer.
This is what you need, good fuel, water, protein, veg, fruit, good carbs, sleep and light exercise. Its not rocket science. Obviously we need a some other things, but these are the basics to be working with around fuel.
But when life is busy, you can feel overwhelmed and have no idea where to start. Let me give you some pointers.
Start with the cocaine, just stop. This stuff isn’t helping you at all. Then we will work on the alcohol to significantly reduce or take a break. Whilst building some downtime and sleep in. Making changes so you don’t feel so tired, busy and under pressure.
