Busting The Myth: Hiring SAP Rockstars Is Too Expensive

Busting The Myth: Hiring SAP Rockstars Is Too Expensive

OK, I admit I'm a nerd and I love the show Mythbusters, but in all seriousness, if you buy into this common myth about recruiting top-talent, you are hamstringing your organization, your team, and your own career.

After years in the trenches in the SAP hiring world, I can unequivocally say that money is not the #1 consideration for Rockstar candidates.

Now let me qualify that by saying that money is most certainly important to top talent. You can't expect the best of the best to work for peanuts.

But multiple studies have shown that top talent are driven by something much deeper than numbers on their W2.

They're driven by self-actualization.

A strong sense of self-actualization is the most important, and most shared, of all characteristics of SAP Rockstars.

The Bar-On Eqi assessment, the most widely used tool to measure emotional intelligence with more than 500,000 tests taken in 40+ countries, found that a sense of self-actualization was by far the #1 trait shared by all top performers.

They want to grow their skills, expand their capacity, and reach for the stars. They're not afraid to sweat, or to take chances.

They're not spectators. They're IMPLEMENTERS. They don't want to just push their limits. They want to shatter them. They don't chase money. They chase excellence, knowing that the money will come.

This is what makes a Rockstar a Rockstar in the first place.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that if they do not have a strong sense of self-actualization, by definition THEY ARE NOT A ROCKSTAR. They are an average performer at best.

So, the question you need to ask yourself is:

Does your Employer Value Proposition (EVP) ooze with potential?

Is the ability to self-actualize baked right in? When a Rockstar hears your EVP, is it a no-brainer?

If you get your EVP right (and yes money will be a factor, just not the only one), you’ll find that while Rockstars don't come cheap, you'll find them affordable most of the time.

…and when you do have to pay a premium, know that the savings from not having a mis-hire derail your team, or from not having to hire outside consultants to fix a mis-hire's mistakes, will more than make up for the increased investment...exponentially so.

An investment in a team of Rockstars is by far the safest and most profitable investment you will ever make in leadership career.

MYTH BUSTED

FYI...with US unemployment at a 50-year low, finding, recruiting, assessing, and hiring the best SAP talent is becoming incredibly hard, and as a leader that responsibility falls square on your shoulders.

I just released a MAJOR resource showing you all the insider headhunter secrets you need to hire your next SAP Rockstar and win the war for SAP talent.

Absolutely agree. I've realized that real Rockstars want to be continually challenged. Self actualization is more important than the all important dollar to these rockstars. Great perspective.

Yes and have that EVP translated into Glassdoor reviews. ...big deal with top performing Millennials in particular. I think that will be my topic today!
