Cystic Fibrosis Queensland is the peak community not for profit charity working with and for the increasing number of people living with cystic fibrosis. A child is born with cystic fibrosis every 4 days. From birth, sticky mucus lines their lungs and airway passages, their endocrine system malfunctions, and their organs deteriorate and slowly shut down. While the average life span of a sufferer is less than 50 years; most will not live past their twenties.
The charity advocates and raises funds to deliver a practical support and service program. They receive no designated government funding and rely on community fundraising, major donors, and grantors to support our cause. Their mission is Lives unaffected by Cystic Fibrosis and they assist everyone affected by cystic fibrosis to live fuller, healthier lives. Cystic fibrosis is the most common, life shorting genetic chronic illness in Australia. There is no cure.
Cystic Fibrosis Queensland was a recipient of a grant as part 2021 Community Grants program. The Grant enabled the creation of Boredom Buster Bags to break the boredom and alleviate the isolation by providing age and gender appropriate educational Boredom Buster Bags.
These bags are delivered to the Queensland Children's Hospital weekly and bring a smile to the children's faces and they all eagerly await the delivery of their bags, they make long hospital stays just that little bit easier.??
If you know of a Brisbane based community group on the northside who are seeking funding for a project they are working towards, please ensure to sign up to our 2022 Community Grants EOI list so we can contact you when applications open.
