Dec 2017 : Talent and capabilities do not always guarantee wealth. While I worked for others and took pride in being called a professional, I have not been able to secure myself for an early retirement.
I dedicated a lot of time and energy to carve a niche as a professional; and the businessman in me took a back seat. In my late twenties and early thirties I had invested in secure tools like LIC and FD and these never made me rich.
I have realised that risk is the only way to accumulate wealth. Bonds, SIP, shares, mutual funds are the right tools if one desires to be rich. Risks are not to be feared but managed and this is possible with a some financial education and a little bit of patience. When GST was forced on us we did learn about its implementation and many of us have mastered its roll out, so why not learn about mastering the risk.
The art of being a good businessman should not be neglected. Fear and greed drive us to make wrong decisions. Fear stops us from taking risks and greed blindfolds us. Like buying a bigger house may not always be a good decision, a big apartment brings bigger bills. Higher electricity and maintenance bills are just a few, hence some of our assets, are actually our liabilities. We all take calculative risks as professional and that should also be the way in being a good businessman.....
