Businesses are Built on PROF!T

“Businesses are Built on Profit”

I’ve always had a different understanding of that statement throughout life. Money has driven a wedge between me and people, because it was used against me growing up. I learned to hate money and had determined that money broke apart families. It was money that had abandoned me, not my father. It was money that had caused our family hardship, and it was money that caused pain.

As you can probably tell, it’s pretty hard to be an entrepreneur when you literally have a fear of money, but a necessity for money at the same time. So, I did my best to start recovering a healthy sense of money.

At first, I thought it meant delivering $1 of value and receiving $2 back. And I moved forward with that concept and grew some very successful projects with that mentality. However, there was still something missing. Then it evolved into delivering $2 for $2. But that still wasn’t right. And it wasn’t until I realized that I have to deliver $3 of value and charge $1 that I really started to break through. Although I was attracting more customers and doing more business, my life was still in chaos - driven by money.

I decided I needed to redefine what profit meant because I had to overcome whatever this hurdle was that was holding me back. Because I believed the words of my mentor so deeply, I had to change my whole perspective - especially if that was what businesses were built on.

I’ve seen the pursuit of financial Profit corrupt people and drive them to greed and crime.

No, I wasn’t going to change the bias toward profitability at all costs:

I'm on a mission to redefine what Profit actually meant.

P.R.O.F.I.T. - now stands for

P. PEOPLE

Think about the people in your life. How are you treating them? Are you doing your part? Are you connecting with love?

R. REVENUE

Cash Flow is the lifeblood of a business. It is vital for survival. Are you asking the world for the money you need? Are you asking for too much? Are you asking for too little? What are you doing to bring in more cash and then what are you doing with the cash when it comes in? Think of it as a flowing life force.

O. OFFERING

Think about how you’re giving back. When’s the last time you treated someone to lunch? Made a donation? Helped someone just because you could? We feel most connected when we do what we were born to do, which is give wholeheartedly.

F. FAITH

Does your idea require a leap of faith? How are you connected with your higher power, the universe?

I. INSURANCE

Insurance is protecting your downside. Are you preparing against potential risks? Do you have basic insurance? Are you covered? The biggest catastrophes in business are often easily avoidable if you protect your downside.

T. TIME

And finally, Timing. Are you asking for things at the right time? Do you even know when the right time is? Are you trying too hard to control time? Or is controlling you? One of the most transformative things we can master is learning to trust Divine Timing. The right things will happen in the right order, at the right time whether we like it or not.
