Business travel is on the rise,?and it's not just because pandemic restrictions have eased.?According to a recent survey,?a surprising factor is driving this growth:?the rise of hybrid and remote work models.
More Than Half Want to Travel More
The 2024 Spring Global Rescue Traveler Sentiment and Safety Survey found that?59% of respondents?(experienced travelers) said their remote or hybrid work arrangement?encourages them and their families to travel more.?This flexibility allows them to seamlessly blend work and leisure,?creating "soul-enriching journeys."
Remote Workers Leading the Charge
Interestingly, nearly a third (30%) of those surveyed who travel for work are already remote workers (either part-time or full-time).?This trend is expected to continue,?with business travelers' expectations of exceeding pre-pandemic travel levels doubling since January 2024.
Employers Getting on Board
The survey also suggests a shift in employer attitudes.?According to Oxford Economics,?an increasing number of companies are?encouraging remote and hybrid workers to travel,?both for business purposes and for personal fulfillment ("FOMO Travel" or "YOLO Travel").
