Business Transformation Around AI & Data – Data and Algorithm Sovereignty

Business Transformation Around AI & Data – Data and Algorithm Sovereignty

The Opportunity

In a recent 30-minute keynote address entitled “Perspectives on Data within Artificial Intelligence & Business Outcomes”; I had the privilege of taking about data centres, data sovereignty, control of algorithms, vendor dependency risk and other aspects impacting the take up of AI business. This was part of Confluence-2025 (https://www.amity.edu/aset/confluence2025/) held at Amity University (https://www.amity.edu/), to an international audience of researchers, business, government, and students. These aspects, other related business integration aspects, together with investment opportunities around artificial intelligence, all held resonance with both India, Australia, and other countries, as well as businesses and organisations (see Related Posts).

The Takeout

Of the many areas of overlap and commonality around data, AI, business transformation and technology transformation, was:

  • Data Centres – Whether countries, government, business, or other organisations. Meeting the demand for data centre services and managing sovereignty are common requirements to address. The wider economic returns and vendor dependency is also part of the mix. The recent policy changes around data centres whether it is USA policy or of other governments, serves to affirm the need to address and invest in data centres.
  • Data – From making the strategic investments in data for countries and businesses, to supply, continuity, access, provision, assurance, performance and quality; data is impacting business and the use of AI. No data = No AI. The ownership and sovereignty of data is to be addressed. Recent events and policy changes, affirm the need for governments and businesses to address with the required investments.
  • Algorithm Control – A country, a government, a business or an organisation needs control of its decisions. This means control of algorithms and LLMs. Having a one size fits all approach to AI, verses having specialist needs in the market, within an organisation, and addressing sovereignty is part of the requirements. Having energy efficiency, and AI baselines based on needs and recognition of expertise and specialisation has role. Recent market events serve to priorities these activities.
  • Quantum Computing – The changes in cyber security and cyber safety coming from quantum computing, as well as algorithm performance and design are areas to address.
  • Vendor Dependency – Management of the vendor dependency, from service management, data use, to critical dependencies.
  • Skilling, Training, Accreditation and Certification – The role and need in data, AI, business operations and related.
  • AI Type – The application of AI types, with respective integration, systems support and the need for better sharing interfaces. The greater embedding of AI within devices and applications making it seamless to users and the related opportunities.

While other areas were also explored within the session, the commonality across countries, governments, educational institutions, and business is seen. When ready, we look forward to providing more details and how can we help?

If it helps, the slides (https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7297001100291842048/), and this post (https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/business-transformation-around-ai-data-algorithm-keith-sherringham-cdj5c/) go together but can be used standalone as well. Thank you for your time and support.
